The Susurrus of Seascapes | Art and Music from the Ocean’s Edge
A performance exhibition by Domenyk Eades and William Vyvyan Murray
The Mission to Seafarers, Melbourne, 25th-26th March, 2023
The Susurrus of Seascapes is a collaborative project with violist and composer William Vyvyan Murray. Inspired by the gibigiana of the sea - the famous Milanese word for the play of light reflecting from the water. We combined the visual and the musical in a performance exhibition that pulls from the tidal states of the Southern Coast.
Four performances were spread across the afternoon and evening of Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th of March in the stunning Norla Dome at the the Mission to Seafarers, located at 717 Flinders Street, Docklands, VIC 3008, Australia.
The musical program comprised classical and contemporary works by Ruby Hunter, Anne Leilehua Lanzilotti, Hans Abrahmsen, Fanny Rose Howie, Kaija Saariaho, Henri Vieuxtemps, Imogen Holst, and Augusta Reed Thomas, combined with a new set of compositions by William Vyvyan Murray that explore the waters that gave birth to us all, and the looming problems in their depths.
